You cannot consistently eat well for cheap. Yes, it's true that sometimes you can find healthy stuff for relatively cheap. It's also true that you cannot do it consistently, in order to "eat cheap" in a consistent man

we have no good statistics due to issues with self reporting, non-reporting, etc. It isn't good to state things with authority that cannot actually be known. It's very possible, for example, that the reason the 'vast majorit

well obviously you're right because you hold the opinion. If someone else held that opinion than it would obviously be wrong because then you would no longer hold that opinion, thereby nullifying the validity of said opinion.

I honestly identified with it because it's been my observation that too many people decide on something and then rationalize it without considering their thought process for getting there. And I'm always secretly afraid that I do

Math is a philosophy. The only difference is that Math adds a few extra requirements in that it is required to stay internally consistent using a given system of logic (in this case, strictly Boolean logic, it's the entire reason why p

As someone with a pretty strong Math background, I certainly didn't take that from his comment. I took it to mean he understands Math fairly strongly as well, and that most of your grievances with him have more to do with your lack of

I really resonate with your first paragraph. I also think it's ok to look back and believe you made the best decision you could have given the information, and that you simply got it wrong (and that it's ok and understandable). A

still, logic is simply a system of thought, it's philosophy, nothing more (which is why Mathematics is considered a branch of philosophy). So the idea that logic isn't reality is a completely valid idea both because logic is simpl

One of the absolute worst attributes of smart people is their willingness to argue over the semantics of a word rather than simply accept the overall premise being communicated by the other person.

But when you start your argument off with a tautology, there is no way anyone can possibly disprove you in a reasonable way. You get to define what you mean by "smart", but others get to reject it.

labelling it as smarter is a bit of a misnomer, they may very well be more knowledgeable and experienced than you in the field you're asking questions about. You can question someone's assumptions without being 'smarter'

Because if "something sucks", you clearly are making the right decision by going with the other thing. As opposed to worrying about whether or not your decision was the right one because all of the options had really good upsides.
