Reminds me of an old Kim Stanley Robinson SF novel called Icehenge , which as I remember it revolves around life extension without corresponding memory preservation, so that history becomes a way of understanding your own past. I think it

Or you can do it on the client side by hooking into the module loader and decompiling the wasm back into asm.js. See for example the https://github.com/lukewagner/polyfill-prototype-1 PoC mentioned in the wasm FAQ.

Allie Brosh is wonderful. Her toys analogy in part 2, and "Depression feels almost exactly like that, except about everything" is just so perfectly spot-on.

It used to be the case that 3D APIs other than Direct3D couldn't be used from whatever Metro^H Windows Store apps are called this week. Which kind of blocks it at a platform-within-a-platform level. That may have changed, I dunno.

On Windows, Vulkan support is provided by the IHV graphics drivers from Nvidia, AMD etc. On Mac, Apple themselves ship the drivers (incorporating some portions of IHV code, but ultimately all under Apple's control).

More generally, PDF is a vector graphic format, not a text format. A bunch of things we absolutely take for granted, like selection and copying, simply don't work reliably. (I've hit a number of glitches with the JS-implemented PD

I've been a happy Netscape/MAS/Seamonkey/Firefox user since forever, and am delighted that it still has a healthy development pulse. Performance hasn't really been an issue for me, even on an ancient (6-year-old) la

Yes. There's also a difference between a free trade area and a customs union. A lot of Americans in particular seem to think the EU works something like NAFTA when it comes to trade.
