Ah yes, I didn't really think that one through. I know Redox OS (Rust) has OpenGL working, but I think they're just using the Mesa software renderer.

I'd wholeheartedly second the Veronica Mars rec. Start with the first series, not the movie. Aside from the dialog and characterization, it has probably the most deft plotting and pacing I've ever seen in a TV show. For SF noi

Minor bug report in case the author's reading: in the "maps-and-globes" section it says "Change the projection in the dropdown below to see how they differ" but starts out with that dropdown populated with geoAzimut

Gamedev falls squarely into my "smallish subset of use cases". It does legitimately need non-DOM UI, but it's not a huge part of the Web (yet). As for designers, thank you for finding a much more diplomatic phrasing than the

Steve Klabnik wrote a blog post around this last year. More challenging the "isn't WASM just another Java?" take, but I think still relevant to your question. https://words.steveklabnik.com/is-webassembly-the-

For a smallish subset of use cases, maybe. But replacing the DOM with a canvas-based UI for general use would be reinventing many of the problems of Flash.

Java used to work in the browser a quarter-century ago, albeit not very well. Even .NET sort of worked in the browser for both the people who enabled Silverlight. I do believe WASM is different, in a good way, but not just because it work

No, that sentence was about a strong pro-BBC sentiment; goldcd's "backlash" is about a hypothetical anti-BBC one. I stopped owning a TV way back in 2004, specifically out of disgust at the BBC piling in to the property bubble
