Here's my take on this as someone who loves both Go and PHP (yeah, I know!). I agree that startups can get entrenched in their legacy code, but I also think there is a false choice here: 1. Write with a system language from the start.

I'm sure this isn't real or just a fun joke. Please don't consider using a :checkered_flag: emoji to indicate you are fixing something on Windows, or any of these other icons. Or: Please consider using these emoji, but please

I completely agree about Backbone. Backbone is a very simple tool. You can do a lot of damage if you're not yet a very good developer (or a very good Backbone developer), but if you care about your craft and the design of your applicat

I really hope the JavaScript community (or especially a smaller universe within that, framework developers) would step back and focus on simplicity, small codebases, thoughtful patterns, tried and true methods. The good news is the JS commu

"God forbid you are looking at a language like Rust which makes Go look skinny in terms of features indeed." No disrespect meant to Rust, but it's hardly as simple as saying, "Go lacks Generics! Use Rust!" Rust is f

I was disappointed by this article in the end. I was ready for a good old fashioned OOP bash, supported by strong opinions and examples. We should always remain open to new (or old, in this case!) patterns. Instead we get a "tie"

Just providing some useless ramblings here... You're a web developer, and you don't know what to do (in terms of how to spend your time) with a language geared toward systems. That makes a lot of sense! At a certain scale, they&#x

Hope you reconsider and support Watsi. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. Both the Pay It Forward Bundle site and Stripe are on HTTPS, and Stripe is fully PCI compliant. Good of you to be on the lookout, though!

This is really great! You can also head over to the Pay It Forward Bundle https://payitforwardbundle.com 100% of the donations go to Watsi. We've nearly hit $100k in just about a week. Every bit helps!

Wunderlist is really nice and Scribd too! Totally agree. Given that you can donate anything you want (minimum $2), it's hard to say this isn't a great value. :-) But much more importantly, it goes to a really great organization. I

I don't read any mud-slinging in this post at all. What I read from it is someone (or a group of people) disappointed by Docker's current path and wanting to offer an alternative. Docker's received a lot of funding, and so it

Really exciting to hear a focus on stability and performance improvements. The GC improvements are absolutely necessary first and before anything else, in my opinion. Go is new and it doesn't have the benefit of all the hard work and l

Insofar as pushing new Meteor code up to the server will trigger an update to connected clients, it's hot code push. That's _not_ the same, technically, as a web view displaying a webpage that will update on the next page refresh.
