This might be a stupid question but what do you do after you secure such a large series of funding? Go on mass expansion? Would anyone mind telling me how startups typically use this kind of money (closing Series with 100+mil)?

Not a fan of this interviewing format. To me it seems terribly awkward when the person asking questions isn't even on the same screen.

Any chance you can put this on the Kindle store? Not sure how easy it is, but I'm sure myself and many others would like to buy a Kindle copy :)

Yup, exactly. The entire world of PR is cutthroat. If facebook doesn't play, they will get beat.

Not sure what the big deal is here. Big companies run negative PR campaigns against other companies ALL the time -- running negative PR campaigns is a very common strategy in the large market. But I supposed they usually run try to run them

One thing that always bugged me about the criticism of the Diaspora release was that people criticize it like it is production software when they clearly stated it was a "pre-alpha developer preview". Who cares if they didn't have security

Yeah I should have been more clear. I did like tracking my own data, but I got annoyed that every day I would have to type the same tags again in order to do it: M: [exercise][ate late][shower] Tu: [exericise][tv before bed] Wed: [tv before

I stopped using my wakemate after maybe 3 weeks mostly out of frustration. I was never able to score higher than 65 despite sleeping for long hours, short hours, etc. (is my sleeping really that bad every day?). The other thing that frustra

You're right, and I have no idea why a thread like this still makes it to the frontpage. It is unfortunate that you need x karma to downvote threads because even us who have been here for a while still don't have the ability to assist with

Anyone know more details about SyncPad technology stack? The demo is over the same network which means... an iPad acts as server? But then it says all you need to do is connect to the internet... and then...? Long polling? Or socket?

In regards to your comment about their recruiting speed, I wanted to chip in. While not Google, I interviewed with meebo and went through three phone screens as well within 1 week, and they flew me to Mountain View within 2 weeks -- by far

Around this area: 239 8th Street, San Francisco, California, United States. I have since learned that it is the norm and possibly fact for locals to realize this area is a bit more sketchy. But like I said, I'm not from Cali!

I'm always wary of free labor, mostly because I did some before so I know what it can feel like. When you work for free, you never feel obligated to deliever or perform at your best because nobody is paying you, so if you get fed up you can

My experience was half-half. I got a pretty good place, but since I was new to the area (my first visit), I was displeased when I got there and found the surrounding neighborhood very sketchy. I mean, the host was nice but I didn't want to

Diversify. The mobile app market is very volatile, and you don't want to put your eggs in one basket. As many others suggest here you probably want to make a few other apps which have traction just in case your big one fails. There's a lot

I'm pretty sure there was a figure floating around that suggested >60% of businesses who participated in Groupon ended up more profitable. That being said thats a pretty good gamble -- having a 60% chance shot at higher revenues. I'll u

I second these guides as they are surprisingly helpful. The blog tutorial seems cliche and done, but it really is a great staple and good place to start in learning the changes that rails3 has brought about.
