I never thought that there will be a modern programming language that is more verbose than Java. But there you go, golang proved me wrong. and Java is getting less verbose with each release. The major pieces of verbosity in Java is auto-gen

I mean code base does not scale well, not performance. Performance of golang is top notch.

I love Rust and all my personal side projects are in Rust nowadays. But rust is definitely not close to the learning curve of golang and Java. In comparison with C++ I am not too sure.

I was not intending to say that there can't be huge code bases with go, but java, C# with the tooling, eco system, less verbose and a much better static type system scale much better. There is still some areas where golang doing great,

Even now Java is pretty much defacto in many places. Go does not scale well and it is a dumb language, not that that is bad. But just that it does not feel like a improvement to switch to Go. Rust is still new and I think it will not get ma

Java is a very decent language even in comparison with other modern languages. And the amount of tooling, libraries are not matched by any other. It is easier to hire good Java developers. C# is the only other languages I can think which i

Yes compilation times are a big pain point. I heard that there is work being done in this area.

I would except best performing Java code to be slower than best performing Rust code. But comparing general cases is not going to be simple.

about RAII there is quite a bit of support in recent Java versions not quite as good as Rust but there is support. Data race is one other thing, I do have data race issues but that is very rare. Some of the static analysis tools even catch

I think that is somewhat related to the article. There a class of bugs not possible in Rust, they are also not possible in my GCed langs. unwrapping an `Option` is similar to NPE. but that code does not feel idiomatic Rust. IMO there is hig

I am sure the author is a power user of his tools. I tried to use Vim for more than a simple text editor for few days. I realised that it would very hard to replicate the productivity of a special purpose IDE(IntelliJ in my case) using Vim.

I primarily use Java for my job. Security and memory related features of Rust are not an advantage compared to Java. But I like rust because it feels modern and produces efficient standalone binaries. Most of my hobby projects are in Rust n

This is so true. Over years I have realised that my productivity is pretty much similar if I worked 7/8/9 hours. Over time the longer I work the less productive I am. There was a nice quote I once read on HN - everyone have fixed

I think AWS consultants tell the same. I had a training session from Amazon guy arranged by employer. He said that AWS is not going to save us lot of money. But it's value is to enable us move quickly and experiment. Even the managers

I think this not so true. The author might be doing micro services the wrong way. You generally break down micro services such that they are loosely coupled and have a good defined API/contract. As long as you don't break the API
