   And apparently Java 10 has ,`var` keyword. It won't be long before Java has all the goodness.

   Java is so much better as a language and ecosystem than go. Java is getting better with each release slowly. My next favourite is Rust.

   notepad++ is not that great handling big files > 100MB, given that it is written in c++ and yes unfortunately sometimes you have such large log files.

   Corporate proxies are still an issue. Now they have something like SSL inspection proxies. Essentially the proxies can see everything even if it is https. And websockets does not work with these proxies even over https.

   I think this is similar to an approach I saw in code from 1990s written in c++.

   Can't agree more. Both frameworks and libraries have their place. But arguing framework are evil is immature. If you are not using one, you probably are building one without you being aware of it. Use whatever works.
