+1 on this. If I were to make a list of reasons that a FOSS mobile OS is great, then "porting it to devices which it was not originally designed for" would be at the very top of the list! Restricting what people can do with Android becaus

That's right, and I suppose you don't give a lick of credit to the Chief Artist inside your television sifting through that data and drawing the picture on your screen, do you.

I suppose I must have a blind spot in my web programming knowledge. I see sentences like this: The problem that prevented us from using the HTML5 parser for about:blank is that a bunch of test cases assume that when about:blank is parsed

I guess I am skeptical that a "star" rating could ever be meaningful for Github projects. Frankly, the whole thing seems like a bust regardless if you have a thousand reviews; what kind of meaningful information could you get from a thousa

Why? Just let the project owner hit a button that says "This issue has been addressed" or "This issue is being worked on", adding an optional note, which marks the review accordingly somehow. Then you can look and see how proactive the pr

True, but if you're counting that, there must surely be many other equally bad externalities worth counting; e.g. environmental damage due to oil spills and incidence of lung cancer due to air pollution from coal mining. You have to draw th

My laptop runs hot on Ubuntu, and I don't know how to fix it. I have an HP Envy 15, and just idling at the desktop leaves the thing at 50 deg C with the fans on medium. It's pretty frustrating. On Windows, I'm 10 degrees cooler with litt

This post is so trivial as to be flagworthy. If the author's coworkers ask him about design decisions, invariants, or other minutiae regarding a piece of code, does he explain it to them by writing more code? No? He uses natural language

If it doesn't do any good this time, will the global contingent of people who continually and arbitrarily divide the world into static, irreconcilably opposed groups of people do it again anyway in the next discussion?

Please don't do this. This is worthless, especially without the diagrams. If you felt like it made sense to copy and paste the article because the server was down, then you are wrong; that's why Google's cache and Coral exist.

Coming from Fox News certainly doesn't make it much more credible. But I don't think it makes it less credible, either. You should figure out whether it's credible based on other evidence. If you think that coming from Fox News "kills

I downvoted it because coming through Fox News or The Sun has no impact on its credibility, since Fox News is not the primary source. Fox News is just parroting and simplifying something scientific-sounding, like they would do for any simi

I don't agree that it would be better served, and I don't like the poster's equivocation of "I don't think these are equivalent to this issue at hand." His examples are perfectly analogous to the issue at hand, which are instances of an ou
