That is only relevant if you expect most Model Ys to be sold as seven seaters. The point of the analysis piece was that CUVs are more popular than traditional sedans. Their popularity, at least here in Europe, has nothing to do with their s

It's possible they have commercial relationships with the vendors that back those other OSS projects. It's common for such vendors to build a discount into contracts in exchange for promotional support. Also, corporations are not

The Airbus A320 alone has had 35 hull loss incidents. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incide... Whatever else you think about this topic, it’s utter nonsense to say only Boeings crash.

I’d love it if you could unpack some of this. You gloss over some pretty big statements here.

I don’t deny that there is more to all of this than most of us see. However, much of your comment leaves me feeling “citation needed”. What supporting material can you link to?

I'm not sure you'll find a receptive audience on HN for cinemas as a job creation exercise. There's something to be said for movie theatres as an experience or an event, but it's a stretch to argue that overcharging for

Thanks for the thorough response. How was your experience writing the book? I’m curious to learn about people’s process for taking an expertise and converting it into a book.

That’s a false dichotomy. Another option is to allow donations that are ring fenced for the project or projects I care about.

When I visit Google search there isn’t a banner begging me for money that will be piped into Google Wave, Buzz, or some other unrelated venture.

That’s not the point. It’s about whether the film maker sets out to be balanced or to act as an auteur.

I used to work for Andrew and, although the story of the £30k wasn't common knowledge as such, we all knew the fact that he (and his friend Alex) started the company while at school and then Andrew made a great success of it. The parti

I’d dispute the law of leadership as being absolute. Plenty of people blaze a trail only for a later competitor to come walk the now relatively easy path and extract the value that the first company was too busy to see.

The tl;dr is that when someone is paying you $500k a year then the work itself might not be all that motivating. However, within time, the money isn't enough to motivate you either. You gotta wonder, though, what the rest of the world
