Pretty sure what's going to happen is we're going to pay for news, at $100/year or so, like we pay for Netflix. You can probably get 100,000 people in a small city to buy that (given proper branding/marketing), and that&

Speaking as a hardware guy, I think that's the ultimate goal as well :) Been planning a NIC card that directly serves web apps via HDL for a while now...

The problem is the latency associated with software Zlib, on the order of several milliseconds for a typical web response, and the CPU usage the entails, thereby limiting web request-response throughput.

Anyone have a hardware ZLIB implementation that I can drop into my Python toolchains as a direct replacement for ZLIB to compress web-server responses with no latency? Could also use a fast JPG encoder/decoder as well.

Twitter's become absolutely toxic as well. It's gone insane. They really need to get rid of the Trumpian right-wingers from that platform or it'll end up being harmful to their business. No advertiser is interested in putti

JSON in Postgres is so fast... it's definitely not used widely enough. I'm not even sure why people would use something like Django Rest Framework, when Postgres outputs JSON directly from a query.

That's not because of college. That's because of debt. Learn to separate debt from college.

I'm surprised Apple could never figure out a way to make a profitable wi-fi router. Every household needs one, so what prevented them from differentiating their products from generic routers? It really could have been a hugely profitab

In this situation, you're voting for party based on platform policy for each position, not people. The actual officeholders are decided later by the party. It's hard for a committee to be dishonest.

If I were to change the system, I would have ballots ask 10 or 20 or so questions based on issues, and each party gives their own response to each question. The voters then choose their answers they favor for each question, and they can cho
