As a European, I cannot understand the reaction of people buying weapon (and especially automatic rifles) after such a tragedy.

Mozilla people are very nice but I am not sure that a project like Firefox is the best way to get into open source development: it is quite a big and complex project; easy to feel lost.

The best way to start contributing is to go on github, perform a quick search for some projects you like, pick an issue, fork the project and tackle it. I personally think github represents a cheaper solution to enter the open source world

I don't that will happen any time soon. If they do produce an app, they would cut revenues coming from advertising so I don't think it is in their interest. On mobile, the situation is different as mobile users expect to have features such

I thought of the exact same xkcd when I read this email. Let's just create more fragmentation on something already exaggeratedly fragmented.. Until the next "standard".

DDG gets confused when you use "hn github" and displays Github repositories instead. I think the algorithm should be slightly tweaked so when several keywords are present, the first one has priority over the second one.

Strangely enough, the demo works using Webkit (Chrome) but not with Firefox : I cannot start the animation, as the Start button does not appear even if I resize the window properly.

I like keeping the ownership of my data as much as I can. Also, I find Evernote really painful to use, especially for bookmarks. I had experienced it a while ago; coming from Delicious at that time; and I had found it painful and badly inte

Same here. After I got a successful search, results were of good quality but no better than DDG for example (lot of content farm, and Youtube/Wikipedia on top), I will stick to the later.

Apple are known to take much bigger margins than competitors on their hardware. The reason has actually been given by Jeff Bezos during the Kindle HD announcement: Amazon wants to sell their ecosystem, their ebooks, movies and music; the ha

I actually agree. I was really into productivity a while ago but I realised quickly that most important of all, I need to enjoy myself while working. Pomodoro allows me to do so while having a good focus, but I know that I cannot go as far

I don't know if we can still use the Apple keynotes as references as Tuesday one was really painful. It was slow, packed with marketing keywords, and Tim Cook was unable to ramp up the suspense through his speech... PS: I am not watching th

Looks clean, and seems to be faster as well. Only regret, they are still using flash for audio: would have been nice to use HTML5 like with html5.grooveshark.com.
