I don't think it should be considered as blogspam. The author has a point, the Linux desktop is not a success, especially among "non technical" users. However, I don't agree with his conclusion, I think it can change thr

I tried it, as well as Gnome Do, but it is far from being as feature complete and extensible as Alfred.

I could not have said that better: I actually love the keyboard oriented approach of Unity. If you further install Unity Tweak Tool / Ubuntu Tweak, you can also get keyboard shortcuts for tiling and organizing your application windows.

Did you try installing tlp ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/TLP ) for your battery problems? I usually get the same battery life as if running windows.

Flux is actually available on Linux: https://justgetflux.com/linux.html . Regarding Alfred and Dash, there are some Linux alternatives (Gnome Do, Synapse for the former, Zeal for the latter), but they are far from being as g

I have wondered the same thing for quite some time now and I decided to simply install Ubuntu on my 2013 Macbook Air. Everything works out of the box (except the iSight webcam), and with a bit more polishing, you get good battery life and t

The gaming community is globally aware that investing in an expensive CPU is not the best choice. Gaming performance will depend mostly on the GPU, and most gamers go for an AMD configuration for that specific reason. Regarding the mobile u

I was going to suggest the same feature: healthcare and more generally public services are a very important factor when deciding to settle somewhere. Too bad most of these websites seem to think cost of living is the #1 factor.

Got surprised as well to see that they were proposing me subscribe to Prime when I have been a Prime member for more than a year. Realised that I was on the US website, and the music streaming does not seem to be accessible for UK customers

Opening the bookmarks toolbar takes indeed two clicks now (but you can use the keyboard shortcut CMD + B to open it instantly). Regarding your second point, the double click works great, and the bookmark details overlay appears.

I don't know how long you have been a Chrome user, but Firefox has felt snappy and responsive for a few months now. Australis re-design shows that often speed is more a matter of impression than benchmark results.

Have you at least tried it or are you simply change averse? I have done the move a few weeks back, and I don't regret my decision. The toolbar and my add-ons located there still work very well, also the new menu gives a quick access to

We do use r.js and create modules (a main one that gets download systematically, and smaller ones for less used features). However as we update often, we don't want our users to download the large third party libraries we use at each o

It does not add complexity if your project already makes use of require.js, it is literally specifying an array of paths for a library instead of a simple string. If my server is not available, my web application will ultimately fail anyway

I think your statement is a bit extreme. While relying exclusively on a cdn to serve your static assets is risky, doing it using require.js with a local fallback works very well. You still benefit from cdn caching, while preventing your ass
