Where are the good CS jobs in VT? I'm from the NEK and in college now, but I had resigned myself to not being able to afford living in VT for a long time (got some serious college loan debt coming up) I had an NYC internship this past summe

Counter-anecdote: you don't know how much on the web isn't flash until you pick up an iPad. We must use very different subsets of the Internet, because the videos I run into (on random, lower profile sites, no less) don't require flash. H

But then the trouble is that you broke into someone's house, not that you were on heroin. I think it'd be reasonable to make the penalty for crimes committed under the influence to be equivalent to conciously choosing to commit the crime. T

Do you know of any major OSes that actually have resolution indepdence? I've never heard of an OS auto-adjusting the DPI (Windows certainly doesn't, and Linux never has for me), nor have I seen any OS do so correctly even when you do it man

Indeed. The underlying assumption that a "QA process" as traditionally conceived would have prevented this sort of problem is fairly faulty, I think.

I don't know if a law compelling you to reveal encryption keys to the government/police/courts is valid in the UK. I do, however, know that such a law is morally reprehensible. Quite frankly, it is in the interest of the people to ensure en

That's exactly what I mean - not having access to Steam servers is enough of a carrot that games like TF2 aren't heavily pirated. Some of my friends and I used to pirate a lot of games in high school; someone would find a copy and we all co

Though you might be able to pirate Steam games, you can't play online, which is the major draw for a large number of them. Regular apps don't really have that effect, though.

Assuming the parallel name to "Teach for America" is intentional, one of the primary motivators is missing: paying off college loans. Teach for America pays 100% of interest accrued while in the program, and gives you (admittedly small) awa
