This definitely feels like shaping tech to me. The amount of thought and scale that is happening here is absolutely mindblowing. I don't think all of tech has to be space, bio, etc, frontiers. More people interact with what these peopl

Haha I hear you. I think your point is exactly what I am getting at. Instagram wants to be more than "just" Instagram. My point is that sometimes you get that shift right, i.e. iPhone being more than "just" a phone, and

It is a lot more effective for me. I usually find what I am looking for in the first few results, there are flights, calculators, wiki pages, etc. So I disagree it has gotten worse. The task of search has gotten exponentially harder as well

Markets dont work when everyone knows what I am THINKING. i.e. If I know with 100% certainty you are going to buy something for 1$ I just bid 1.0001. Same with Google search. If I know with 100% certainty that you rank pages in a certain wa

You're so right. It's sad that even if you remove 99% of something, to the outside it looks like you are removing 0% because you have no reference.

I think it's the opposite. There are many many more multi million dollar software business than broadway shows, meaning that you have a much lower chance of success making a hit show. It just looks easy in hindsight because you dont se

They did/do this. One of the big problems is competing with customers. i.e. you go from being a platform (Windows, Unity, Shopify, etc) to an aggregator (Amazon, Spotify, Instagram, etc) and your relationship goes from the small store
