So is the problem that he has a lot of money or that he is telling people about it? If the former, it goes back to my point about good being about sacrifice and pain. I.e. me giving 10,000 is better than bezos giving 10,000. If the latter,

I would assume not. I don't think he thinks of it as a charity, but the tension between continued profit and doing amazing things in this case doesn't bother me. I think it's positive in that the better he does the more peopl

Does philanthropy have to be utilitarian? In the sense that if you donate money your only goal should be scale? Is that the definition? Which one is better, donating $1 to 100,000 people or $100,000 to one person? Similarly is donating $10,

That makes sense. Thanks for that. If unselfish means that I can't benefit in addition to you benefiting I don't think I see altruism as a super positive thing. Turns into "he gave up his last dollar for that person!" wh

I find this take on him so strange. I also don't understand the take that altruism/philanthropy has to be zero sum. i.e. true altruism means that I lose something and you gain something. Maybe it is a hold over from religion and t

I don't read it that way at all. I read it like "The person who has never programmed can now write code" It says nothing about replacing anyone, more about expanding the pie and lowering the barrier to entry. No where did he

It's impossible for me to try anything because it doesnt exist right now. There is no VR experience that has high resolution. If the resolution was better, it would be great. Don't care about the "environment" Just proje

You're missing why this would be important. It's cool for investors because the black user base draws in a bunch of other people along with them. It's also not about people saying "omg black people, I must be there!"

Scrolling and seeing all of the green here makes me so happy that so many people can come together to do something they believe in. Brings me back to early internet. Very very very cool.

I feel like you need both people. The people who scratch a unique song onto a CD that only plays on one random CD player 2% of the time, and then the people who optimize that one song to play on 100% of devices while your upside down and un

Then you can just look at the annual ones. Anything over 75k is more than safe to say is annual. I only go that high because it seems like you need certainty that it is not quarterly or bi-annual.

Much much more trivial to look at a map and see a big blue pool than try to parse water bill differences. Having had a pool, there isn't an obvious pattern as to when i had to fill it up, etc. Low hanging fruit are the ones that aren&#

VR games? Sure gaming, but I didn't know VR games specifically made so much money. Either way, if I was gaming, playing a new single player 2D (Last of Us, etc) game on a MASSIVE screen on the Vision Pro seems so exciting. Beat Saber a

Most economy long haul flights have power outlets. I do at least 20 ten hour flights a year and always sit in economy so for me, the battery power isn’t an issue.

This happens with humans too. Humans write code with bugs, technical debt, security flaws, etc. I would trust an AI to generate code a lot faster than a junior engineer with 4 months experience. That’s the trade off, not AI vs a 10 year exp
