You touch an important point. I'm in the process of winding down an app that relies on scraping a variety of badly formed data - there is commercial interest, but it is really difficult for me to make people pay for something if I can&

I agree a bit more information about yourself and your plans would be interesting. It doesn't have to be much, you can look at what other publishers are doing in this space. For example Mothership Zeta [0] which is positionning a bit d

Anecdotally, that's how we hired our designer - her last "mockup" project matched exactly what we were working on next - the hiring process was super fast, and there are a lot of benefits to hiring someone who has already spe

It is more burdenful than costly though - compared to the costs of hiring and keeping employees in the US, I think the costs are competitive.

That's a valid problem. If you look beyond startups, the french economy is mostly benemoth (think Total, Bouygues, etc) and small shops (your local boulangerie). There aren't that many mid-size successful companies - even less so

Fwiw most of my iPad dev time I spend in a terminal (I use the one bundled in coda) working on a remote machine. Being able to have a split screen between a terminal and safari actually sounds like it could actually be enough for me most of

I really wish they'll upgrade keyboard navigation (whether scrolling or selecting items, etc) - I've started relying on my iPad more and leaving my computer at the office, and it's fine for most tasks with a keyboard except w

Although this merger seems to be mostly about infrastructure, I wonder how it will impact applications groups (documentum, captiva, etc) within the organization - there doesn't really seem to be a well defined place for them (disclosur

OS X makes progress with every release on this front. I typically test it with a few tricky french sentences (think "les poules du couvent couvent") and it seems to improve, but it's hard to say from the outside what gets bet

That's an interesting point. I hadn't considered the impact of ondemand updates to future abandonware - looks like another case where pirated illegal versions might have better preservation than official ones.

I think it's great to see museum thinking more about long term storage of digital art - this is a topic that I believe will become more important in the 10 years to come, as more artist create digital or online works of art - there mig
