To be honest, I'm just curious why we haven't seen much real malware yet. The Mac Defender stuff is a joke, but there's no reason why somebody couldn't be exploiting the recent Skype bug ( http://www.purehacking.com/blogs/gordon-maddern/s

This is a follow up to the first article that he wrote regarding UDID tracking and privacy exposure, using OpenFeint to link UDIDs to real-world identities. It's a bit shocking to see how many apps are submitting these UDIDs to multiple dom

Perhaps I didn't phrase my comment as well as I should have. Indeed all his points apply and are excellent. As you pointed out, his focus is on testing the HTTP server for performance, rather than the actual apps running on them. The point

There are some good nuggets in this article, but he seems to miss a point that I feel is very important and yet is often overlooked in real-world web load testing; emulating an actual client behaviour under different real-world scenarios. H

I agree that the current colour scheme makes the night time hours stand out more than the daylight ones, but I would suggest perhaps a different approach - darken the background so that the daylight hours have more contrast and the night ho

These are good points. (And indeed, I intended to write 'Firesheep' and not 'Firecookie').

It is actually possible to run full interactive debuggers inside vim. Personally I think Netbeans is a little easier on the eyes when doing this, but being the nerd I am I had to give it a go once I found out it was possible. Here's screens

Is it really wise to suggest "Don't use encryption." ? Even your grandmother can steal sessions with Firecookie these days.

While I'm relieved to see that, I wouldn't expect anything less from a trivial example such as this. I wonder if the same would be true if you hit a database, hydrated a one-to-many related series of objects from multiple tables using an OR

Thank you for your reply. I will have a play with it if I find some free time. It's not the memory leaks in _my_ code I'm so worried about, it's the ones in other people's code :-) e.g. Doctrine used to leak like a sieve and no amount of fr

Since I follow most of the mailing lists for Symfony 2, I have come across Silex a little while ago. However, something new I took from this article was the appserver-in-php project https://github.com/indeyets/appserver-in-php The blurb o

I agree it's hugely light on technical details. But, if the exploit gains shell access to you own account, and the exploit can occur via simple message sending in Skype, and it is possible to script Skype from the command line (Applescript

Congratulations and well done. I'm just downloading it now. My first thoughts were if it was able to identify the 320+ species of native trees we have here in NZ. My second thought was to wonder if it can be trained by the users to learn ne
