Interesting. Guess it was only a matter of time with the proliferation of ride share platforms. I wonder if drivers are employees or contractors? Seems as though the cars will be more uniform than Uber Black/SUV.

I wonder if the reason they don't have a lot of the older films is due to the fact that digital rights were never fleshed out? If so, I'd be curious to know if that's the type of thing that can be resolved (and how).

Not to mention that they send out an email with their recent price cuts, but this is only shown in app. Seems like they are trying to slip it by.

Seattle has started experimenting with "Parklets[1]" recently. The city gives up the right of way, and the businesses that sponsor them pay to build them, but can't restrict it or turn it into an extension of their space. It

Looks like they've added a twist by doing it yearly with increasing offers each year. Pretty interesting idea.

I know Amazon hires for their internship program from Canadian universities, and I imagine Microsoft and Google do the same.

What subscription are you referring to? If you spend $300 a month you get the big radish program which gives you lower minimums for delivery, but other than that there's no subscription program afaik. Edited: I guess in the bay area i

The pebble is always on, but the backlight can be set to turn on when you flick your wrist to look at it. While it could definitely benefit from a more sensitive accelerometer, it works well enough 90% of the time.

Fantastic news. I was tired of being able to grab a ride reliably and cheaply, and don't get me started on how easy it was to pay rather than getting the "my CC machine is broken" runaround. Now I can go back to cabs blowin

Along the lines of UNLV, check out the 2005 draft with UNC. #2, #5, #13, & #14. I think that's the most lottery picks from one school in a year, and three were in the same class (#2 was a freshman)!

If you can find one. If you aren't on the main drag, good luck. We called twice and waited for cabs which never showed up, and finally called a friend of my sister to pick us up. We would have been much happier taking an uber instead

I'm not sure in 1849 there were a lot of banks that one would trust that kind of funds with in gold rush areas in CA. I'd imagine banks were much less robust than they are now, and even now I believe that 750k is > the FDIC in

In a similar vein, I'd recommend http://www.hackernewsletter.com/ . I subscribed a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it quite a bit. An example of their latest newsletter: http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/

Gmail was announced several weeks ago (maybe December?) as coming to Takeout, and last time I checked I didn't have it enabled, but now I do. It's by far my biggest file, my last export of all the services I was able to download

This is exactly why I buy my gifts using an incognito window for researching gifts. Otherwise I'd go to Facebook or Fark and the sidebar would have exactly what I was looking at.
