I’m somewhat disappointed no-one spotted the Snow Crash reference.

You ever get offended that the attacker is so obviously incompetent? At least put in the work like the xz attacker.

Feel like you need to read the article. Many of the devices affected do not fit any reasonable interpretation of the term “legacy”. It turns out 3G is in many ways superior to 4G and 5G.

I insist on calling Roblox “rob-l-ox” when talking to my kids. It’s a dumb joke, but it also emphasises to them that spelling is a guide and not always a useful one.

It’s funny, because movies still have the prestige television and games do not, despite both of them outstripping cinema in many ways. Movies have become increasingly global common denominator, with razor edge finances, and have ceded so mu

Makes sense. No idea what the derivation of “ENTIER” is, though.

What does ENTIER do? I can read the code, but I have no idea what that means.

There is a lot more to a person than genetic code. We are not IKEA chairs and DNA is not the assembly instructions.

Taking the name of the language of the front makes it read like Python is the subject matter.

Yes! I played that too! Love it, never managed to beat the huge frontal assault mission, though. IIRC Paul Darrow was a voice actor on it. Who I saw many years later playing Sam Vimes in Wimbledon Theatre.

You sound right on the money here. Occam’s Razor suggests they’re rebooting for a reason we know about rather than an undocumented security feature.

Having the same name was an understandable marketing decision, but I think it probably harmed it in many ways. The game is interesting and different even today (although I’ve mention my reservations about it further up)

Wow, this resonated with me extremely strongly. Only realised the term “latchkey kid” applied to me in my thirties. Like many, didn’t mind it, wouldn't say it harmed me. Didn’t feel neglected: my mum needed to work and I knew she was h

My god I love BZ98. For me, the remaster was frustrating. The most annoying thing was that certain things, like the combat AI, had been improved in ways that broke the balance of the single player campaign. I doubt players with the subject’

A nuance of like to add, though: some of the ways of controlling immigration, in particular revocable economic visas, are _designed_ to push down the cost of labour at the expensive of natives. IMHO, if you get permission to work in a count

Very few of the things you’re listing are caused by immigration. They’re caused by institutional neglect. The person telling you they’re caused by immigration has no intention of addressing the institutional neglect, because that doesn’t ge

I feel like that's a story HN and a lot of tech likes to tell itself, but the truth is that when push comes to shove they support candidates who are neither, but _are_ deeply right wing. Concrete actions tell the real story.

Pretty sure Luke was aimed at a gentile audience as well. Matthew is the one who tells the nativity story explicitly as a fulfilment of prophecy.

Women’s education and women’s rights. I don’t personally think we have an overpopulation problem, but the above are proven to reduce birth rates in an entirely non-coercive manner, as well as being a good thing in their own right.

A good way of illustrating this is that John doesn’t even attempt a nativity story. He starts “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
