What's bad about linking to your own stuff? If your own stuff isn't good enough to link to, you shouldn't have published it in the first place.

Why are you surprised? They've been doing that sort of thing (illustrate a story with a photo vaguely related to it, with a sarcastic/snarky not-literally-true caption) for as long as I can remember.

I don't understand this bit: Mismatched or inconsistent syntax is also an issue. For example in Haskell the curried function signatures don’t actually match the non-curried function definition. I would expect the signature of a curried fu

Everything old is new again. This sort of thing was mainstream in the 50s. British acts would record and release cover versions of US hits months before the US record companies got round to releasing the original versions in the UK.

Could you explain why you don't consider e.g. Bing to be an alternative to Google Search? Without knowing why you're disqualifying every other search engine out there it's hard to know what your question means.

The "Golden Ratio Typography" page this post links to claims that the ideal width of a line of text is equal to the square of the line height. It does not give any justification for this claim. This implies that doubling the line height sho

HTTPS claims to secure the connection, so it is necessary to make clear when these claims aren't justified. HTTP makes no security claims, no there's no "unexpected lack of security" to disclose.

It's ambiguous for human users who are not familiar with the format. Some people may not even recognise it as a date, in some contexts. (2012-06-19, that's 1,987 right?)
