You add in simplicity by taking out code. It is very possible (and common) to find better abstractions or methods to approach a problem that reduce the complexity of the code.

It would certainly appear so, I would need to give it a try to know for sure. Based on the compositor support table on that page, this would be even more compositor specific logic as it seems exclusive to KWin. Thank you for the link though
