> (you can stage/unstage/undo fragments of files in the UI) To be fair, this has nothing to do with SourceTree. You can do this with any git tool, since it’s a feature of git.

The ui doesn’t take any getting used to if you don’t use it ;)

We are also assuming that the article is worded correctly. It could very well mean that the assembly time for 1 unit is 30 seconds total from start to finish, and the wording is just inaccurate. It happens a lot with articles like this, so

Ever overloaded a function? You can infer the meaning from the context. “They” works as both.

No, it’s more like trying to get the Redskins to change their name - which many people support.

They is already used as a singular pronoun. Just because you want to play the grammar police won’t stop people from using it as a singular pronoun. It has already been invented, you’re welcome to use it.

There is a lot of downvoting going on in here on very valid comments. I know it goes against the guidelines to complain about downvotes, but it’s surprisingly toxic in this comment section. I expected better on HN, it’s pretty disappointin

Cool idea! Took me a few scans to realize ETH is unrelated to blockchain tech in this article...

Why not just have granular “clipboard” permission that could be granted or denied per-app? Personally, I like the ease-of-use I get out of google maps grabbing addresses from my clipboard. Not everyone would like it though, and that is ok.

It’s fine if an app has a valid use case to access clipboard. I have found it really convenient myself. I think the crux of the issue is that the apps should be forced to get permission from the user first, on a per-app basis.

The typical way to preserve content upon account deletion is just to remove the displayed username from the posts, but keep the content. I don’t see why that couldn’t apply here also.

I clicked play on mobile and I immediately got an advertisement to get a quote for a new kitchen? Immediately closed. Disappointing.

Pretty unusable on mobile - my phone keeps trying to either start a phone call to the “number” of the byte sequence I clicked on, or it tells me (repeatedly) that the site has been blocked from making calls, after I have canceled out a few

You chose to mention Safari, but link to an article about Chrome, Firefox, and Safari? Looks like all major browsers (probably Edge too) have this built in.

Is it just me, or does the article drop the abbreviation “NKRO” at the end with no explanation of the meaning? Edit: It’s “n-key rollover“

No offense, but that seems like bikeshedding to me. At what point do you stop making premature optimizations like that? The commenter had a need, wrote a package to fulfill the need in a language they were comfortable with, and got the job

Engineers are typically required to have a license, have agreed to some code of ethics, and typically will have a membership in a professional organization. Like mechanical engineers and the SME, or electronic engineers and the IEEE.

If all that mattered were the bits, then wouldn’t it be sufficient to just re-encode a video? All the bits are different now... It seems to me that changing the bits only helps to avoid detection. Not to avoid the legal issues.

You’re referring to a variadic function, which can be written in most modern languages. The commenter you are replying to is talking about a function of fixed-arity, with a config object with required props. Which props are required? A Type
