Maybe you're right. I have not tried this and don't know someone who has. I am reasoning with the example of DirectX. You should be able to release a GPL program that uses DirectX, even though nobody has the source code for it. If

Making two views and deprecating one is actually the simplest possible compatibility strategy - just like adding a new version of a function to a header.

In retrospect, I think you are far better off forking Quake rather than messing with these kinds of 2010 projects which attempt to solve all problems, and do none of them very well.

Not at all similar. Godot follows the Unity model of focusing around a GUI editor. This is a set of cpp libraries.

In marketing, getting others to talk about you is not cheap. I don’t know what to tell you. Pick your theory: A) apple does it for no reason and it is a waste of money B) they do it because they are aware or benefits that outweighs the smal

In most organizations a database is broader than any individual application - both in lifecycle and scope. So it makes sense that this state exists in a different way. I suspect it’s because people never learned to use them, but they did le

That’s because the composition is supposed to be inside sql. Views, functions, etc. This is another reason why the ORM is a leaky abstraction - it hides all the best features from you.

Is it actually hard to build a DSL for the kind of query’s they are talking about? Seems like it would be a 50 line SICP exercise.

You’re arguing against a straw man. All major language sql libraries are not based on string manipulation and provide things like escaping, arguments, etc out of the box.

Lots of professors aren’t leading their field in research - they aren’t competitive with those that do. So yes, they are teachers or administrators or make minor research contributions.

No I’m saying the top tier mathematicians tend to work in academia because that’s where the most math is done (general trend with exceptions).

A corollary of this is that many professional mathematicians are not actually competitive in research. It’s just different leagues of intelligence: social studies undergrad vs math undergrad vs math grad vs competitive researcher.

In my high school there as a mediocre science teacher who made an effort to do all kinds of technology gimmicks: computer presentations, recording audio, getting special equipment. It felt like a massive distraction and waste of time. This
