Furthermore, the ads crowded out any investment in a micropayment solution that might provide an alternative to monetizing websites. They have a monopoly on financing the websites we use daily. The internet will continue to get worse until

I agree with your statement, but I feel like it's rather splitting hairs in terms of the entire conversation. Both the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks came out of Iskra (and it's impossible to describe Lenin without it), and reading cul

The idea that any pdf reader, or indeed any aspect of itself, might require to run as root is ridiculous. We’ve had drag and drop install the entire history of adobe-on-mac os x. What is taking them so long?

Spontaneously? What are you referring to? The only particular moment in dialectical analysis is the synthesis, which is inherently unpredictable. Marxism is only predictive over the totality of history given the structure of the dialectic.

Which tracing jit would you recommend for production work? The implication is, of course, that there isn’t a good one. This isn’t ruby the language’s fault, it’s just weird that after like 15 years being the go-to tool for VCs there’s no su

I always viewed it as a critique of capitalism—sure you can get a bionic arm, but you had to sell it in the first place. All inherent value has been exploited and resold, including at times reality itself.

You’d have to compare them to an equivalent shop in the same market of about the same size with a different stack to get a meaningful answer out of this—I’d say off-hand that it’s very unlikely their edge is tech.

> I don't see why that would be the case Well, the extensive use of “method_missing” appears to be staggeringly difficult to optimize short of a tracing jit and it’s also the core idiom of many popular frameworks. Of course it can b

You only need to be more efficient than the competition, and there’s a shared incentive to push out products faster than you can maintain existing ones. Over the long term it never makes sense to use ruby; only in the short term when it pro
