> Why don't you have access to pattern matching in your Lisp day job? The lisp I use (scheme) does not have pattern-matching built-in and nobody has made a good enough case to add it as a special form.

For an alternative point of view, I write lisp for my day job and would not approve any code that just shoved a bunch of unrelated data in a list. Thinking about the destructuring code, especially if you don’t have access to pattern matchin

That’s not really accurate. It has strict requirements about stack traversal required to appropriately trace memory roots. This is incidental to JIT vs AOT.

Why that book and not, say, Capital ? Friedman is hardly unusual to run into in the US so I'm a little confused why you would consider that a distinguishing factor. Why not just label them a Friedman fan and move on?

Surely optimization in a moving vehicle would include a static interface with haptic feedback so you don’t have to navigate any “system”.

I live in downtown Denver and I just want to point out all the good food is spread out across the metro area, it’s only walkable in a very weak sense. There’s also zero bodega/corner store/corner deli/food carts downtown, asi

Sure, work is good, but it’s hardly a decent measure of economic health. The idea of someone not “participating” in society is ridiculous. Paid labor is only one of many ways to participate in society.

On the contrary I’d rather characterize it as IPA = very hoppy (you might even say overhopped) and therefore bitter.

Trusting them to protect your arbitrary data is a completely different scenario; there’s just more concentrated risk (i.e. your identity is just gone when Apple gets taken).

Yes that was a very odd thing about moving to SF: people using credit cards on <$5 transactions and merchants actually allowing it.

Uhh my bank’s $30 to wire fee would beg to differ. Literally any fee less than that for a same-day transfer is worth it.

Well, it’s not literally nothing, it’s literally a massive amount of pollution. Puffing on cigarettes is literally inhaling pollution without air so I’m fairly certain you were never intending to engage in good faith in the first place.
