Agreed; these animations are actually excellent and can be very useful in cases like those you described.

Optimistic updating needs a serious amount of code and robust error handling on the client and is therefore non-trivial. This approach seems aimed to reduce the amount of work while being relatively fast.

The language doesn't matter if it's portable. One giant benefit of a single tool is in projects using multiple languages. Using multiple similar tools side by side is a pain. Even for a simple web app with JS it's already nec

The bitcoin protocol may have intrinsic value, but that does not transfer to individual bitcoins.

Would it be possible to create a solid, language independent package manager so that it's not necessary to create a new one for each language/community? I'd love to see Pip, Bundler/Rubygems, NPM, Cabal, Maven, etc. repl

Thanks for the response. Communication of the status of the releases was very clear, so we were aware that not everything is 100% production ready. At least it's good to know for sure that we have to plan for downtime when upgrading, a

Is there any way to upgrade clusters without downtime? It seems the import/export requires a shutdown, and nodes running different versions cannot join the same cluster, correct?

You're correct, some people that have been approaching us had several thousands of images to compress monthly from their web shop or CMS system. We're offering the free plan for people (perhaps like you) that just want to convert

Yes, pngquant is awesome. TinyPNG uses it internally and combines it with other, lossless optimizations. We built TinyPNG for ease of use (no configuration, no settings to mess around with) and to reach a wider audience. Definitely use the

TinyPNG combines lossy and lossless compression algorithms. Optipng and pngcrush are lossless only. The difference in file size can be huge.
