Yes, guilty as charged, it was just the first thing that came to mind. The point stands, though: Why not reuse something existing, tried and proven, stable, instead of reinventing the wheel again.

I’m curious how the search engine is going to scale. Every time things like that are reinvented instead of using something that already exists, like, say, ElasticSearch, I will be skeptical. Then I looked at the implementation, and it begin

I also saw the talk at FOSDEM. If Mailpile is just a MUA, why does it do its own indexing, why is there talk about including a server, etc.?

It doesn’t even take that much. Twitter simply took @mattness from me – without notifying me – because they claimed it was unused. That was a few weeks before I was ready to launch my redesigned website… I wrote to twitter support and they

Their annoying UX on Android as well as on the “desktop” and their hijacking of URLs for sharing (enforced redirect) are the reasons I’ve stopped using feedly. This is just another nail in the coffin. Sadly, stunts like these will drive eve

Up until around KitKat, there used to be a blacklist of words that Android would not offer to save to the personal dictionary by typing-and-tapping. Now, it’s an option called “Block offensive words”).

I wrote about this a while back, in German, at https://moeffju.net/blog/beschattete-abreise . Basically, Android (used to, I haven’t check the most current version) ships with a blacklist of words that are not in the di

No, see, there’s a trade here. I back a project, and they promise me a reward. In this case, it was pretty specific: “You will get your console before the market does.”

Absolutely. And I would still be waiting patiently except for the fact that this thing is actually being sold in retail now. I don't mind waiting. But I'm annoyed at being "worse off" as a backer.
