It's a security issue because someone can compromise google's CDN, or cache poison, or DNS poison/hijack that, and can inject malicious JS code into a large number of websites with one attack. If you're running a payment related it pays to

Generally you VPN in (using two-factor auth for PCI compliance) to a private network and can SSH in from there. Public facing SSH is generally a bad idea. Also it didn't seem like they had any firewall rules preventing brute forcing.

That's totally nutty. Not sure how they passed a PCI audit like that. In fact, I don't see that they are PCI certified on their site?

Ditto on both of these. Joker is great, cheap, and straight forward. EasyDNS has a very nice infrastructure (we use them as secondaries).

By not working you mean sites won't let you register with e-mail addresses ending in lhsdv.com? Or that they do, but there's some issue with 10MinuteMail.com itself that doesn't show you the e-mail? If it's the former, then not much I can

I launched it in November of 2006. The temp inbox market had several players in it already, and if I'd actually looked around at all I wouldn't have built it:) But it was just something to learn Seam and scratch my own itch, so I didn't e

Having been, the big thing I feel I didn't do enough of was networking. I met a few folks, but really could have done much better at introducing myself to new people and maintaining the connection afterward. There are amazing people there

Obviously you don't know me, but the implication that I'm not a "good" programmer because I like some of the features that an issue/task tracker provides over a text file is silly. Jira + Mylyn + Eclipse makes identifying which commits wer

I can't speak for leftcoaster, but what drives me crazy about the upgrade process is this: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA041/Upgrading+JI... I'm just upgrading from 4.0 to 4.1, I shouldn't need to create a new installation,

I'm not saying Rails does or doesn't handle this at all. I don't use Rails. I was just commenting that the parent response regarding 100k pages/day doesn't really mean that much either way imho.

While 100k views/day is good traffic it's generally not at the level where I'd consider it 'scaling". Unless you app is very complex or CPU intensive 100k/day should be achievable by out of the box settings on a single server. I've done t

While you aren't wrong regarding the parent comment, I'm actually constantly surprised by how in love with RoR the HN crowd generally seems to be.

Multi-factor is a big deal, especially if you ever want to deal with credit cards at all. We looked at WiKID (open source two factor solution) but building a LDAP backed VPN solution around it was going to be a fair bit of work, so we ende

I have a 17" MBP and a 30" LCD and I happily use an 11px font (Monaco or Manlo). 20px would seem silly to me, no offense. I have room for 120 chars, 120 lines, and plenty of space for tech design docs, API guides, terminals, etc....

I'm not sure I'm a "write it and forget about it" kind of person, but I don't want to have to spend time going back over an ever-increasing amount of existing code to fix stuff rather than writing new features/integrations/etc...
