I just got a new 16" mbpro a few months ago and now am very glad since I'm not interested in being a beta tester for Apple or dealing with shit not working because of the new arch, which is absolutely inevitable as a developer, ev

Except we already have an effective treatment, dexamethasone. So all those Swedish deaths could have potentially been pushed to now when the mortality rate is lower due to new treatments like dexamethasone. Instead, they were not pushed so

Few places in the world get hot enough to kill you outright inside a house. Most of the north (and south in the southern hemisphere) gets cold enough during winter nights to kill without heat. I guess it's puritan now to not want to di

Never attribute to stupidity that which can be adequately explained by malice is just as, if not more valid in most situations (which makes hanlon's razor that much more idiotic and useless). Both are likely explanations and both are l

In my current company on year seven, I've definitely learned more on this job than the previous seven years where I worked at over a dozen companies. It's not even business specific. It's about how to build software that does

I don't think you can tell the difference. But does it really matter? You work there, you build the best things you can, maybe get a promotion or two, then you move on. Or you just work there, put in four to eight hours a day and move

Interesting how the TSA pretends it is police when it isn't. Also interesting the level of stupidity and incompetence shown by every asshole of every organization involved. Perhaps people are starting to see now, thanks to BLM, that la

The people who want to dismiss covid as 'just a flu' are not the kind of people who willingly research and consider details before making up their minds. I have never seen an argument by these people that takes into account the lo

Emigrating does not absolve one of the duty to pay taxes in the US. Renouncing citizenship does, but doing so for tax reasons is already illegal and those that do would be taxed anyway when renouncing.

To revise science and drop ideas not proven to work while adopting ideas proven to work can also be called "changing the goalposts" by people who simply don't understand how science works.

A death wish is not necessarily for oneself. Most Americans are wishing death upon others. Statistically, the younger and healthier, the more likely they are to kill someone else rather than themselves. Doesn't make it any less risky o

Dentistry is the last industry I'd watch as a harbinger of the economy. Going to the dentist is truly playing russian roulette with corona. The aerosolization of particles is inevitable as is inhaling them. If there is corona to be aer
