Any differences between this and Vanilla ( http://vanillaforums.com/ ), which has an abundance of community-created add-ons ( http://vanillaforums.org/addon/browse/plugins ) and the ability to really customize the forum to however you want

http://kartograph.org/ (and other such libs) exists, but I'm not sure it's as "designer-friendly" as a pure CSS solution, despite being able to style them in your stylesheet all the same.

It's wrapped in a 960px container for some reason, I had to take it off to see if it was working and not just being nudged by a media query. Having background colors on the elements would really help visualize what's going on.

If you're not checking their respective boxes in the inspector, you can miss certain states and pseudo selectors. I also try to add .less and .sass/.scss to the end of stylesheets just to see if the working file is on the server too, since

This. If it weren't for sites exposing their sources I wouldn't have been able to teach myself what I know/tinker around when I was just a kid with a dream. This just seems excessive, and one of the employees's responses below about people

I have only seen it happen once or twice in-person, but I've run across it multiple times online. Had one guy, known for being awkwardly friendly (as in, had a motive) with the women in the group, even try to invite himself to stay with me

Ditto for me as well. At least in advertising there are other female project managers, assistants and designers you can go to. I've only worked one other job in dev where I've had another female co-worker, and even still that doesn't mean w

Funnily enough, their website loaded slower than the ones who were ripping it, so I was initially confused about what the argument was as the large background image took ~20s to load/push down the rest of the layout. The JS on the navigatio

I thought you were being sarcastic too; these are all very common trends. The problem here isn't the fact that the layout is original (it's not), it's that the code is being ripped straight from the site.

I read that the card system turned into a running joke at DEFCON (people giving their buddies cards at the slightest insinuation), which could lead to watering down the purpose or making it somewhat of a joke to receive one in a literal sen

I see a lot of people complaining about this and as a designer, I'd like to have a little more information as to how it detracts from your experiences.

Totally agree with you there. VS is a brand almost exclusively for women, and yet all of their marketing is clearly for men. That said, lingerie/fashion do have a [sometimes scantily-clad] human component that should be represented in some

My issue here - and why I am glad it's on HN - is because we have this problem in our industry a lot. We question why more women aren't interested in it while we parade them around our conferences or include photos of them in slides barely-

Welcome Crindy! HN is great for some topics, but on the issue of women, get ready to cringe. In the same thread where I said I didn't want kids I was told that I would live a miserable life where I would always wonder what I was missing on

Yeah, I'm not sure if user-generated groups were the way to go with that one. I have no idea which of the ten with the same name are worth joining, so I don't join any at all.

This is really, really cool. I'm a little confused about the "collaborative" aspect, though. I assumed it meant that multiple people could be working on the model at any given time, but it looks as if it's more of a place to review it?

I can totally see the desire for multi-vendor gift cards, but I'd almost rather see a company like Simple handle that, not a brand synonymous with shady practices and the rest of my personal data as-is.
