Mongo will scale out horizontally better than Postgres. But most people don’t need that, and there are other alternatives to Mongo that will also scale in this way.

SQLite isn’t really comparable to Oracle or SQL Server though. It’s an embedded database. Probably you meant Postgres there too?

That sounds awfully fragile to me. Any kind of bump to the case could cause problems?

Is it normal in Germany to still be cancelling large events due to Covid? That certainly isn't the case in the UK and hasn't been for some time.

Surely it can know that. Don’t ram chips identify with vendor / serial number etc?

It’s a standard hacker news BS generalisation, presenting something with some basis in truth as universally true.

I still don’t know why we have them. It seems to make elections even more about personalities and individuals than politics. It’s amazing how many people when presented with a list of policies will vote one way, but when presented with a li

It kinda makes me sad. It’s great that companies want to improve D&I but, assuming everything in that article is true, they’re making a hash of it. They’ve forgotten Goodhart’s law, and as such they’ve create a metric everyone is trying

I think you’re overestimating the ability of having a FAANG on your CV. It might help you to get an interview, that’s kinda all. Unless you’re were an early employee, in which case you’re probably going for co-founder roles anyway, that’s i

It encourages you to think you can use secondary indexes to make different types of query over the same data like SQL, which you mostly can’t.

I can’t comment on netlink but there does seem to be a lack of innovation in FreeBSD of late. Everything has to be done the same way Linux does it or there’s little adoption and at that point you might as well just use Linux. There has to

I don’t like your implication that ARM is the only way to do this. The Apple chips are fast and low power because they are good designs built on a very modern fabrication process. It’s perfectly possible to build such chips with other desig

Yeah, you missed it. GitHub ripping off everyone’s code to build copilot has caused a small (not as big as it should have been imho) exodus of open source projects to Gitlab and others. I still don’t see how it’s a good idea to import unkno
