Great to see the University of Kent getting some publicity on hacker news, even if the BlueJ reviews are somewhat mixed. Ian Utting and David Barnes gave my first CS lecture.

That’s exactly my point. Laws restricting speech. Free speech is a utopian nonsense, there are always restrictions (just ask the SEC). It’s just a question of where a society thinks the line should be drawn.

I actually do have 100gb of ram in my desktop, mainly because I got a bit carried away on eBay and bought an epyc, and you kinda have to fill all the slots to get the performance.

It’s co-ordinated bullying and harassment of a minority group to deny them the same rights to free expression that those doing the bullying enjoy. Free speech without consequences doesn’t work. See also gamergate.

The N9 was a better phone than anything they released subsequently. The TI OMAP being eol and the lack of 4g were for sure problems but Elops cure was worse than the disease.

Software generally doesn’t need to be audited by a grad in a corporate IT department who knows next to nothing about software. We have official repos for that, why Jack-of-all-trades IT oafs think they can do a better job than distros who

I also use to spend a lot of time in there around the time the ban came in downing several pints of ‘man in a box’ at least once a week at a startup with a bit of a drinking culture. The smoke definitely masked the other smells though, onc

All these processes are a template, a starting point. Begin there and optimise and refine to suit your team and your environment. Dogmatically following a process that doesn’t work for you is silly.

My first gen X1 carbon has been brilliant. It’s dated but I still use it for some things. Had run Linux and FreeBSD without issues over the years.

For me, from the UK, jaywalking is a strange law, we’ve never had it and I don’t really know why it exists elsewhere. It makes streets more pedestrian friendly and encourages drivers to look out for them.

If you have a point to make I would suggest you make it. This kind of low quality ambiguous response adds nothing to the discussion.
