I still enjoy the one liner that's probably generations old at this point. "America: We have the best democracy money can buy". At 40, reading many comments feels like watching a younger generation notice the same things I

Who's using AHK as a developer? I use it a a hobbyist. I don't want to have to remember a proprietary useless language syntax.

I write AHK scripts like once or twice and then forget about it. I can't remember the sytax so I'm constantly googling. I'd rather have it in a language I already know well. Also as a long time programmer who knows a lot of l

I saw there's a python library that just lets you write autohotkey scripts in actual python code. I'd rather try that if I was going to rewrite my v1 scripts. AHK is awesome but the scripting language was never good. The new one l

Is it a real question? I can't tell if GPT-3 wrote the prompt and only responses are also from GPT-3. Honestly seems like a really strange questions. The question barely even make sense..

TLDR for vscode remote users? Let me be lazy and just get a Y/N over whether it has any benefit over the normal remote vscode UX.

You're part of the team. have you talked to anyone else about this? Either you can complain online, you can leave the team, or you can start trying to build some consensus with teammates and start making incremental improvements, if ma

As a long time test automation dev, I would never want to be tasked with e2e browser automation again. I did that for a brief period in my career. It didn't feel like real coding. The tests always seemed like they were barely less main

is cygwin still usable right now? With e.g. docker? I would have assumed WSL is way better at this point at giving a true native env.

Practical answer? when was the last time you heard about someone having file corruption on their local OS due to using a bad filesystem technology? I've been an enterprise developer for storage companies for more than 15 years, I'

WSL not deeply integrated? When was the last time you used it? I can't imagine a use case where you need your core OS to be posix based, and WSL with whatever linux VM isn't good enough as a dev environment. VScode in windows with

I'm kind of done with HN posting weird sites with arcane info about virus worries. I have no way to vet the info. I'm not an expert microbiologist. The authority of the source is what most of us have to go by on these things. I ha

I bought a a dell developer xps preloaded with ubuntu. It had issues from day 1, related to sleep, related to bluetooth, related to closing the lid and expecting it to do what I wanted. I fixed some of them after messing with it for weeks,

Let's make a distinction between errors delivered to users buying a train ticket on an app (as in the original article) and errors meant for developers. It feels like hardly anyone in the thread is making that distinction.
