Your server should export the types. Don't write types by hand in your client, that makes no sense. The server knows what data it is sending and should provide that information as metadata to the client. Practically this can mean that

This comment feels very detached from reality. Migrating core dependencies in large projects is always cumbersome. One universal truth is that you can make complex tasks easy by breaking it up into small pieces. Providing a sensible forward

State management is arguably one of the most important problems to solve. That's why we use React and Vue. You can very easily build complex user interfaces at scale with those frameworks. And you can even take web components along for

This guide assumes web components is a viable alternative for frameworks like React or Vue. That's a very superficial assumption. React and Vue render the UI as declarative function of state, with the help of components. That's wh

I don't really agree. You can also draw a semi-arbitrary line in the mid-2000s, when foreign oil money suddenly made Chelsea and City rise to the top of the league. The game evolves and that always has been the case. Other leagues unde

But all those jobs have been at risk for a long time already, yet they still exist. There is so much "pre-AI" low-hanging fruit that is still there. So why is that? I don't have the answer, but clearly there is more to it tha

My blog is self-hosted on a Dell Latitude E7270 with 1 Gbit/s fiber connection. No Cloudflare. It handled the #1 position on HN last year quite well. I use self-hosted Ghost as a headless CMS with a Nuxt frontend.

I guess everyone has a different interpretation of revolutionary. Some people think ChatGPT is just faster search. But 10x faster search is revolutionary in terms of productivity.

Why not? Objectively speaking LLMs are artificial intelligent. Just because it's not human level intelligence doesn't mean it's not intelligent.

I feel we are already in the era of diminishing returns on LLM improvements. Newer models seem to be more sophisticated implementations of LLM technology + throwing more resources at it, but to me they do not seem fundamentally more intelli

For anyone who uses TypeScript on a daily basis it's not ambiguous at all. Everyone who works with TS knows the runtime code is JavaScript code that is generated by the TypeScript compiler. And it's also pretty common knowledge th

Whether there is a kill switch or not is somewhat irrelevant. There is a larger than nonzero chance that there is a kill switch, and the US cannot be trusted anymore. So we have to assume there is a kill switch.

I was thinking the same thing. Europe should build its own cloud. All purchased US goods and services are now a potential target for a match of arm wrestling.

Not disagreeing here but whatever question you ask, you will only get the final answer _after_ you have implemented it, almost always after several iterations.

And how do you figure out what the requirements are? In my 10+ professional years, I have never gotten requirements by asking for them. Almost always I had to show my interpretation of what I think the requirements are, and use the feedback
