Yes, if you don't the virus you can't infect someone else. Vaccines are the quickest way to herd immunity, which is the safest layer of protection against the virus.

I tried InfluxDB 2.0 after reading this, and I am disappointed. It's actually a lot more complicated. Flux is not easier than InfluxQL (could be more powerful, dunno) and monitoring and alerting also seems not as straight-forward. I am

What is "code quality" anyway?

There is an underlying assumption business people are unable to understand the real issue. That seems weird to me. Also technical debt seems like an escape for engineers to do things they want so but don't feel like explaining why.

This article hits the nail on the head. ORMs rarely solve a problem but they almost always add complexity. I always advise against ORM.

Vue and React are more than templating engines. They decouple the state and view of your application. This means your view becomes a function of state, and you only need to worry about state. This solves the problem of trying to keep your v

There's much to love about Linux but the desktop experience is terrible. Windows and macOS are lightyears ahead.

They do actually. Maybe not where you live, but where I live it's normal (and expected) that employers compensate for commute.

Is this a problem though? Is business suffering? Are there metrics on that?

What is Biden wins the election? Democrat Senate + House + POTUS would make UHC actually within reach, no?

These are really inefficient incentives. With UHC it would be possible to lower health costs, freeing up budget for the military to increase wages for recruits, for example. In HN language, this is tight coupling that in the end would work

Corrupted is not the right way to describe it. Both TDD and agile provide something amazing to management: a way to make the black hole called "software engineering" into something tangible and quantifiable. This ofcourse also mak

Does it? iMessage is really US thing. The consequence of this strategy is that no one uses it outside the US. Whatsapp is a lot bigger and the leader in this market. Zero chance that will change because of this strategy.

Is macOS so different? You have to disable notifications manually every day to not have your developer workflow interrupted. The login screen is a 3D cube (weird, random and ugly). Icons in the dock wiggle. You delete applications by draggi

It could have all been ended when the bystander peacefully asked the police to stop putting the knee on Floyd's neck. Obviously violence is never the answer, but it's hardly surprising in this case.

I have the same case and share your opinion. It gets warm, but CPU temperature is well within limits. And somehow the idea of passive cooling is very attractive.

I use this case: https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/aluminium-heatsink-case-f... Doesn't look as flashy as the Flirc case, but cooling performance is supposed to be similar and you can access all the pins.

Typical HN response, there is no multi-million dollar exchange going on here. How about filling in some of the blanks or correct the wrong parts yourself? This is such an unnecessary defensive response.
