What is the point? Optimizing for lines of code is a wasteful target. I thought we all knew that by now? Great that you can demonstrate that you can do something without React where others are using React, but that's not the point at a

Most of the web is content, but websites rarely are SPAs. If you only consume content you would hardly know about the concept of SPAs. I think it's weird to compare websites with web apps. Instead web apps should be compared to desktop

I'd say there's is not a clear definition, but I think: low interaction intensity / no personalized experience = website, high interaction intensity / personalized experience = application. Wikipedia and blogs are mostly

This looks almost exactly like the ProBook 440/640/645 G8. It looks like an old design with new hardware, rebranded for developers. Curious to see what the build looks like.

This analogy only supports Apple's method? Car shops have a lift for easy access to the car and machines for balancing your tires. Very expensive equipment that almost no one has, which also goes for the tools for replacing an iPhone b

It's not complicated. - Go to an Apple Store and have them replace it for you. - Go to a third party repair store at your own risk - Do it yourself in the official Apple recommended way I'm not sure what people want. It used to be

Engineers are not UX designers, so their opinion on UX has little value imo.

Rendering server-side HTML is fine, as long as your application is stateless. Then it's really easy. However, when your application becomes more interactive and thus state-driven, is it really easier to it server-side? Remember, the pr

Here's an even more radical thought. Hear me out: different people have different preferences. Forcing either way-of-working will be received with discontent by people who have different preferences.

You have to manage state within the rules of the framework, that's true. But the hard part of programming usually isn't syntax. Who cares if it's a different language/paradigm? It's a simple language and I only have

How many people who are critical of the current state of JS actually use it on a daily basis? Modern frameworks like React and Vue don't exist to fill in the gap left by native JS, they exist so that you write your application in a dec

Number 1 is valid. But becoming less relevant as you mentioned. Number 3 also valid. Number 2 I really doubt this. Having more flexible API contracts (GraphQL) usually only makes dependencies worse, not less. Sure you can write any query yo

I tend to be highly critical of the costs of interfaces that bring nested data structures into the equation, especially on the input layer. The moment you bring nesting into the equation, things become exponentially more complex. There'

It doesn't necessarily have to be world-changing. Just something that you value and causes a glimpse in customers' eyes because now they have the tools they didn't have before can be enough.

There's no need for highly opinionated discussions. Differences in opinion should be a trigger to find a common understanding, it shouldn't result in defensive behavior. Everyone's just a person trying to help.

I would suggest to get a smart electricity meter so you can see "live" power usage. I'm not familiar with resistive heaters, but it appears they are purely electrical, which means they are only 100% efficient. Heat pumps (you

100% efficiency is rather low for heating. Heat pumps easily give you 400%. Efficiency in this case calculated as: generated energy (in heat) / electrical energy. Efficiency goes beyond 100% because heat is extracted from air or water.

Frameworks like React and Vue allow me to define the UI as a function of state in a declarative way. The language happens to be JS. Please tell me how this can be done in vanilla JS without writing my own framework. I don't think it&#x

Declarative dependency management. Every Node project has a package.json file, which is the first thing that I look at. It gives you so much information at a glance, and it allows for reproducible builds with just one command. With pip you
