The last few years have caused me to be a skeptic. I cannot take anyone at face value any more because the world has become so polarized that it is like people are willing to type anything to make their point stronger. At this point if I do

The mention of Q is what makes me think it is fake. My whole family is conservative; I have a German friend who is way out in right field (I love her but she is coo coo for coco pops), and I work with folks who most would consider fringe ri

Nope, unix people like the fact that thirty-year-old shell scripts still work just fine. In ten years, powershell will be be replaced and it will be the new vbscript. No thanks.

Around 20 years ago, I registered my account on a web based simulation game by putting a check in the mail. Around 7 years ago I verified an account by putting a dollar in an envelope and putting it in the mail. I am not sure why no one is

It has been many years since After The Gold Rush was published and we are no closer today than we were then. At some point software engineering will be a real profession but I doubt anyone will take action before some huge catastrophe pushe

I am pretty much shit at using CSS correctly. I am working on a 38 page site and looking at the CSS is disgusting. The html is clean, the back end is simple and easy to understand, and the database is something to be proud of (well except w

I haven't had a phone with built in radio, but back in the late 0s I had an ipod with a built in FM radio, and it was the coolest radio I ever had. You could pause and rewind it like a tivo. I assume the radio on a smart phone would be

This is not an example of windows doing anything unix like. We simply have to take a different mindset when using Windows vs unix. Windows has always had a way to communicate between components and that it does better than anything else.
