There's a cool paper-based backup tool that also uses Shamir Secret Sharing to let you distribute a bunch of paper copies to your friends to restore a file optically: https://github.com/cyphar/paperback

JLCPCB is great as long as your components don't get too small. They made a few boards for me with a tiny component that just didn't work. I think they vastly overestimate their minimum trace size.

The trick is to pick a decent number of orders, but not so many that the manufacturer has run an exit scam and replaced the product with something even lower quality. That's a tough one to get right.

I totally agree that library developers are the ones who _can_ handle complexity, but I have found even some of the top Rust devs are making async mistakes -- either the APIs are not correct from an async perspective, or there are basic bug

I love Rust, but async is a hot mess and you cannot just write async code the same way that you write sync code. I'm getting more convinced that mixing the two is a bad idea, and that Go's approach of making everything sync with a

A lot of devices are actually structured that way. Android has an A/B flash system that works kind of like that. It really comes down to how much time and care the developers have in their implementation.

Does the m1/m2 expose a serial port on the USB-C connector? I haven't seen that outside of mobile phones that require special debugging jigs (most requiring a secret resistor values between various pins to turn it on). More info i

I wouldn't put trains and smooth in a single sentence. The signals required a lot of patience to learn and I'm not entirely sure I still understand them. They are by far one of the most painful parts of factorio for me.
