`||` is conventional in bash, but definitely not in JS. `x || value` is closer to conventional JS, but using it for control flow is certainly not common and a stylistic choice, for sure.

I've been developing for a very long time and I'm neither on the side of "lots of comments" or "all code should speak for itself". My philosophy is that comments should be used for two things: 1) to explain cod

My one and only one beef with Rustls is the inability to support some legacy crypto standards that aren't web safe but necessary for replacing OpenSSL in some cases (ie: server to server, database SSL, etc). The project is the best one

I finished a very rough, tesseract + LLM transcription, but it absolutely needs editing passes. I've done transcription in the past myself (did two books for standard ebooks with some from-scratch transcription and lots of editing) and

It originally showed up in Linux, but it's pretty much universal except for MacOS. I mostly hope they start taking the "unix" part of the OS seriously again. It's been almost frozen in time.

At this point it looks like io_uring is really the new syscall interface of choice. Given that most (not all, but a significant proportion) syscalls are for I/O purposes, it makes sense to bake in the concept of async completion.
