I too am a generalist and have been for 30 years. I love it all but the one thing I wouldn't do is react UI coding. It just looks awful to work on. I loved Vue2 but Vue3 is starting to look like react.

I reluctantly moved to an architecture position because developer salaries have stagnated and remote work normalization will put even more pressure on western developer wages. Coding isn't nearly as much fun anymore. Agile, CI/CD

Vue3 looks like react to me in a not good kind of way. I'm moving on to svelte.

Javascript UI frameworks last longer the Microsoft UI frameworks. It's not like a newer framework is just replacing an old one because of hype. React/Vue are massive improvements over Angular 1.

Best of luck. In the right company tech lead is a blast!

You have to be in a very functional organization to enjoy life as a tech lead . Otherwise you just end up a manager who knows how to code.

It's ok to be happy staying there as long as you are OK with being salary capped. The salary wasn't even my biggest issue. My biggest issue was my title and compensation didn't match what I was actually doing day in and day

Tech lead, to me, is a guy who orchestrates projects at a very technical level that includes some shallowing coding for proof of concept and helping developers when they get stuck. A lot of companies mistake tech lead for "senior dev&q

I don't remember saying that but I do remember saying I had capped as a senior developer.

That's also true. Most organizations don't have a real "tech lead" type of position just management and senior devs and the lines blur.

"Senior developer " is the worst role you can have. You are the architect, manager of your devs, heat shield, meetings attender, and you still full time coding job. You get 2% annual raises for your trouble because you are salar

Vue/React/Svelte are pretty damned productive. 1/5 - 1/10th of typical server rendered or native UI LOC. If I never write another line of code directly manipulating UI controls I can die a happy man.

I enjoy writing code in objC/Pascal/Go/JS/Lisp/Swift. They all have their beautiful parts IMO. Funny the one I enjoy the least is the most modern: swift. Xcode and platform lock in may have a lot to do with that

You can use emacs + lsp along with the Xcode lsp server. works great and is way more stable the XCode. I just use XCode for storyboard editing. (add-to-list 'exec-path "/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Develo
