hmmm I could use this to spoof "productivity" monitoring software. I was planning on build my own app to do this but this looks like a nice alternative. Thanks!

IDK i ported my objC code to swift and didn't see much of a benefit. If anything it was more work because I relied heavily on objC dynamism.

There's a lot of hype but there's also a lot of potential to revolutionize commerce. imagine if you could pay 10 cents to read an article or tip a web site. How badly does this torpedo googles ad biz?

Sure read like a hit piece to me. The bigger issue seems to be the IMF loan sharks.

At this point the equities market is also gambling based on what the fed decides to do next.

I just use emacs and ssh /shrug mostly. with use-package I'm able to pull all my plugins onto a new machine one the first emacs startup.

now that we have LSP running as an external process I hope they jettisoned java and are instead using C/C++/Skia or something for the editor so it's fast.

at that point why don't they just use native + skia ? Seems weird to build a web based editor to then just use canvas.

I have both. VSCode is noticeably faster. How do you know jetbrains new editor isn't a "Dom editor"? I kinda hope JB built it as a native editor and just uses a scripting language for plugins.

Agree. I am not learning another language unless its an order of magnitude better than what's out there.

I just can't learn yet another language. There's nothing even particularly novel in dart. Why couldn't they just use an existing language?

More than just off. Especially on iOS there is a ton of functionality in those native controls thats going to be very hard to replicate.

I was sitting here thinking why doesn't the author just use reagent? so much nicer and you aren't using yet another DSL

Smart people are also very lazy. I've always been an underachiever and am just as happy writing emacs lisp to do cool things as I am to reengineering some mess at work. Still get paid the same amount. I do good work but I don't

"I am so smart but I can't get anything done around here because everyone's an idiot." It's a thing. It's demoralizing to work with people who often make more than you do and are terrible at the craft and don&

Been leering at lisp in the corner for 23 years. Been doing c/c++/delphi/go/objC/swift all this time. I finally have had it with OO and static typing. Javascript was my first intro to the liberation dynamic types

As a team lead I love go because no one can write clever code in it and even a bad coder can generally write somewhat working code in it.

Only things I'd like are Switch operator a<b ? "neg" : "pos" A coalesce operator myval ?? "default value" generic map/reduce/filter
