"It's not ok" is a value judgement. I am not implying that a death penalty means bad things never happen. I support death penalty because I value an orderly and safe society more. In the form I would accept, it would be used

It is not ok to put any innocent people to death and it is also not ok to live in an unsafe society. I believe that the death penalty should be applied with extreme prejudice for the most serious of crimes. You don't need to and should

Yes. I am for public and prominent capital punishment of heinous crimes. Bernie Madoff should have hung on Wall Street. Dylan Roof should have hung in front of the state capital building. It is not repugnant, it is a signal of what behavior

Beautiful yet terrifying. I'm glad that regex isn't something I'll ever have to touch.

StarCraft units are semi-autonomous anyways. You don't want a human controlling the drones every movement, that would be awful

If the drones were not destroyed as part of normal gameplay it could make sense. So rather than a battle Royale maybe something like drone laser tag mechanics

I thought it went without saying, but being good enough at AI to make 7 figures isn't attainable for most people.

The sweet spot: Good enough at AI to make 7 figures. Not good enough to personally be a geopolitical pawn.

I can just tell that John Ousterhout works with much better developers on average than UB and that probably informs their biases.

The degree to which AI can generalize previously trained networks to novel tasks is growing with time. The degree to which I care about that has not. It just means we can get better inference with less targeted models. Whoopdy doo

There are two axes: ------------------- Axis one: quality of the code Axis two: how many use the code There are four quadrants: ------------------------- Clean code no users: enjoy it while it lasts, it won't. Clean code and users: wha

Please if you do get a PhD, don't feel bitter if you don't get paid much more than people without one after you graduate. This is a toxic mentality that (anecdotally) I find quite common in the computational sciences specifically.

The term "PhD Knowledge" makes me cringe. PhD is about contribution to a field, not a standardized test score or a weird status-bearing substitute for IQ.

We can't train every engineer with the goal of making them qualified to be the CTO of a complex systems engineering organization. People who end up in those roles learn what they need to know themselves over time, anyways.

I don't know anyone that voted democrat in this election. If you're looking someone to blame, blame the idiots who engineered the blue ticket, not the voters who couldn't stomach it

I am totally fine with disenfranchising people who don't have up to date IDs. The cost of a perception of illegal ballot stuffing is high and the benefit of these voters is marginal at best.
