I would do this in a heartbeat, except having Maps and needing to look up a quick phone number / look for a place's opening hours while out and about is hard to give up. :(

a) It wasn't hereditary. b) A bunch of ragtag Meccans came to Medina with a destitute Prophet, where there were two well armed and well established Arab tribes and three Jewish tribes. No armed conflict took place, because there is no

I mean, they were invited to come over and the Prophet(S) was invited to take a role of the head of state. Generally speaking most (not all) of the native Arab population (excluding the Jews) was happy about it. So in that sense, yes they w

I referred to the act of emigration and the pact of brotherhood, not the subsequent conflicts with the Jews. There was no "conquest" of Medina. Conquest implies an invading army subjugating a native population, which didn't h

Nadir and Qaynuqa were evicted , not massacred. Qurayza was killed after they betrayed the Muslims in the middle of a seige that Nadir (which had resettled in Khaybar) helped instigate. Khaybar was attacked as a result of that same seige,

... you can say that about any historical event ever and massage it to fit your narrative. The commandment for Muslims to fight wasn't sent down till a year or two after the emigration, so they were quite literally not allowed to fight

You should include a note in your next tax return for the feds to not use any of your taxes to pay for his road/social security/medicare/anything. I'm sure he'd prefer his roads to come only from blueblooded America

I don't think so. Having the Bengali counterbalance would have significantly reduced Pakistan's veering towards theocracy, imo. But that's speculation, neither here nor there. Who knows how it would have actually played out.

It actually is going pretty well. We elected a demagogue and he's as checked and balanced as he can be, given that he has the House and Senate.

Yeah but you also have situations there like my old man, who got admitted for a heart attack and the hospital refused to operate without ~ his annual income (and we're middle class there) in cash being deposited first.

Of all the governments in the world today, I am most impressed by Merkel's Germany. She has remarkable ability to stand strong in the face of criticism and do what's right without bowing to populism.

We marvel at those aqueducts and pyramids in the same way we marvel at this. WE shouldn't pooh-pah one accomplishment just because another exists that we're culturally more familiar with.

Immigration is not all or nothing. You can allow in a set number of immigrants a year - enough to inject new ideas but not enough to drown out Japanese culture. They're your borders, no one's stopping you.
