Exactly! Falcon 9 is not only the most-launched rocket in history, it's also the most reliable rocket in history! And people got all caught up in sensationalism when Falcon 9 explosions were still common, too — I guess it doesn't

I'm not sure what your point is here — a stainless steel skyscraper-sized rocket powered by 33 methalox full-flow staged combustion engines just made it all the way through max-Q and most of the way to orbit before exploding on its f

Well, they were hoping to possibly get a chance at soft-landing the Super Heavy Booster in the ocean, which might have allowed them to recover some stuff from it, but that was always viewed as a potential bonus, never a guarantee or eve

I wholeheartedly agree. My engineering teacher in high school always used to tell us to fail fast and fail often and I think SpaceX has that down to a T — because failing in engineering isn't really failing, it's an integral par

This is a fantastic idea, I'm sure the FAA will be thrilled when SpaceX asks them for permission to turn their rocket into a disneyland night-time spectacular orbital missile!

I'm an ML researcher and I'm very interested in doing some self-experimentation with training personalized BCI models. My thought is that if all I am the only person using the models, it doesn't matter if the models overfit o

Fascinating, I wasn't aware EEG was so susceptible to signals from outside the brain. I knew it didn't have the highest SNR, but I guess it does make a lot of sense that a big reason for that would be it contamination from electri

This is super fascinating. I've been itching to get into BCI hacking recently, I've got some ideas regarding deep learning integrations and it makes me happy to know that if I could just get my act together, there is consumer-av

RWKV is an attention-free architecture that's showing promising scaling at a similar level to Transformers right now! There's also recently been Hyena, which uses a new mechanism that's kind of a weird mix of attention, convo

Sounds like you're solving real problems and that your solutions could end up being useful for more than just your target niche of sleep monitoring. Any chance your product will be hackable once it finally hits the market? I'd lov

I think we’ll see completely new architectures dominate in the near future, ousting the transformer. I am strongly suspicious that, while impressive, transformers use several orders of magnitude more compute than is “needed” for the tasks t

That machine will run blender absolutely fine for simple tasks! Heck, I learned blender on a 2013 Core i7 MacBook Pro years ago, and even then it ran pretty darn smooth all things considered.
