you don't need to go IPv6 only, just adding dual-stack IPv6 with egress only gateway can reduce bandwidth costs.

This is great, I was just thinking of a similar setup for the wireguard VPN I had created for work. We use multiple WG interfaces with its own IPv6 subnet for access control so will be keeping an eye on the following issue. https:/&#x

maps.ellenhp.me has only a IPv4 address and it seems to be hosted on digitalocean, which supports IPv6. would love to have IPv6 support. It should be on default by now, if there aren't any issues hindering support.

Although it doesn't mention in the blog post, the HTTPS endpoints are dual-stacked. Seems like AWS is actually launching new endpoints with IPv6 support by default now.

the attack was to an api endpoint. which is queried via xhr on the main app. adding captcha to it would break the app to all users. the developers are now working on adding captcha at the application level and also signing the api endpoints

At work we got a login attack via VPN IPs and we blocked VPNs from login in via AWS WAF and 2 days later a major user was complaining that he cant login. We had to remove the rule. (developers were working on captcha in the meantime) I also

Any story on why the blog does not support IPv6? Your ISP seems to support it. https://stats.labs.apnic.net/ipv6/AS2586 I am asking because you did not even mention it in the "Residential connections and DNS"

>Maybe the service provider could safelist a subnet? Yes, thats what prefixes are for. Although its unpractical in IPv4 world, in IPv6 it is the way to whitelist a range of ips.

I also run 3 small clusters of consul and I went ahead and read the raft paper[1] so I can debug consul election problems if it occurs. Consul is awesome when it works, but when it breaks it can be hell to get it working again. thankfully

AWS introduced IPv6 only VPCs last year[1] and it made many AWS APIs endpoints unreachable from IPv6 instances as they are IPv4 only. So they are adding IPv6 support to them[2]. You can expect more of these type of blog posts this year. [1]
