You're basically dismissing everyone outside the US since it's not possible to pick country in the sign-up. That's a lot of market potential you're wasting.

The author seems to contradict himself, first stating that Michael Eisner was an investor in Joost, and then going on to tell us that the problem is that media VC's don't exist because all the outstanding media CEO's don't invest in startup

Assuming VC's got 30% of the company that's a payout of $15 million from an investment of $6 million giving a little more than 100% a return on investment. These numbers are educated guesses of course, but it doesn't seem like the VC's got

Research on the subject seems to contradict you. There are several problems - Incentives are very hard to get right. If your bonus is tied to sales you inflate sales and don't care about margins. If your bonus is tied to margins you oversel

Incentives don't work. This has been documented over and over again, and it's truly puzzling that large corporations don't learn from it. Here's a quick and light article on the subject: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000070

Assuming a 20 day work month and a 10 hour workday that will give you half an hour a month to work on each of your 400 projects. And assuming (optimistically) that you will spend 2 weeks doing each project it will take 15 years to get to 40

This move is obviously motivated by politics and business. Berlusconi basically runs Italy like a corporation that he owns, and since he controls 90% of Italian media his interests don't align with sites such as youtube, Reddit, Digg, etc.
