The three things listed (money, promise of money and connections) are exactly what a business founder should be able to deliver. Along with customers. Paying customers. Before you launch the product. If he (or she) can't deliver that, then

While I think your post is very insightful the problem for me wasn't really finding someone that wanted to work on my idea, it was simply finding someone skillful that was willing to risk doing a startup. I've never had problems convincin

I've actually been down that very same road - looking for a technical cofounder but finding it hard. There simply aren't that many people that are both smart, get things done and want to do a startup. At least not where I'm located. As a bu

" software engineers don't work for free " Well there is this strange thing called open source software where I believe people work for free. Jokes aside, I can understand why this guy has trouble finding a technical cofounder. It's all i

IE6 has around 7% marketshare according to this: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp Not supporting it is like telling one in fourteen of your customers you don't want their business. This seems like a bad idea, unless of

Jquery mobile is great because they will try to support as many platforms as possible. If you run a real mobile site with a lot of users you have to take small platforms into consideration, just like your website needs to support IE 6 if

If you start a gardening service does it make sense to hire a gardener to do your finances? Not to be offensive, but I think a little bit of respect for other lines of work would be a good thing here.

Presuming you're from the US it seems that HR fills a somewhat different role over there. The people I know in HR in Denmark are very people oriented. the point remains the same though. I don't think hackers would be very good at processes,

This is what wikipedia says: "In 1995, Assange wrote Strobe, the first free and open source port scanner. Strobe inspired Fyodor to develop the Nmap port scanner." Is that incorrect, or weren't the other ones open source? I'll trust you o

I wouldn't underestimate Julian Assange either. He made the first free portscanner (precursor to Nmap), co-invented Rubberhose deniable encryption and wrote the Usenet caching software NNTPCache. He knows what he's doing.

The problem with useradoption of wave largely came from their invite-only strategy. It's a social tool that requires my friends to have an account for it to be of any use. If they don't have invites and can't join it's useless. It's amazing

Symptom: you now just need a programmer to code up your site. The last startup I did failed miserably. When I looked back to see what went wrong it was obvious that if I could have coded it myself I would have been a lot better off, and i
