The cable/charger situation was worse in the pre-smartphone era. I remember two variants of Nokia, several for Sony/Ericsson and an even greater number for Samsung. Most phones had proprietary audio connectors too. People are now

Is React irrelevant? Stack Overflow’s 2023 developer survey places it first overall for web technologies [1]. I’ve always considered React to be one of the more straightforward front end libraries, so it’s surprising to hear it being called

Ah interesting. I only have a viewer account, so I imagine I wouldn’t be able to use such a plugin.

I’ve haven’t worked at a company where Figma is used “correctly”. It’s mostly used as a canvas to dump designs, slideshows, flowcharts and diagrams. For example, N/Shift+N moves forward/backward a frame. I’m yet to see a Figma fil

You might be thinking of Objective-C metadata, which contains information about classes, protocols and categories. Unlike symbols, metadata can’t be stripped.

Disappointing to see so many comments here repeating the same thing. Who knows what the author has planned for this project, or what prompted them to build it. Maybe they intend to add support for skins, or maybe their main goal was to expe

I generally use https://www.taste.com.au . No bullshit prologue about how a distant relative used to make the recipe in question. Just and overview, photo ingredients and steps. Everything else is secondary and usually worthless.

AppCode was more or less Android Studio for iOS. Both are based on IntelliJ. It’s a shame AppCode was recently discontinued.

I switched from nvm to fnm a few years ago and have never looked back. Zero performance issues and it supports .nvmrc files. https://github.com/Schniz/fnm

This is probably going to cause the price of large format porcelain bench tops down. They have less silica content than artificial stone and granite. I believe they are also cut to size off-site.

I’m in the same boat. The UX on Reddit is in the same ballpark as AliExpress’ app. Since Apollo was shut down, I’ve completely stopped using any Reddit app on my phone. Sink It[1] makes the mobile site tolerable, for cases when I end up on

It seems like every thread has a few “well actually” top-level comments. It’d be interesting to do some sentiment analysis to see the numbers.

Agreed, it’s one of the most well refined Apple features in recent years. The teams behind sound at Apple have been doing amazing work.

Speaking of bricking devices. One of Apple’s greatest shames was releasing Apple TV 4K, which lacks a USB port. This model could only be unbricked by Apple, until iOS 17 made it possible to do so via the iPhone recovery feature.

I can relate to this. At my previous company, the first PM our team had was absolutely amazing. She had an engineering background but transitioned to management ten or so years ago. At some point, she was promoted and the replacement PM, wh

In my experience, a lot of people don’t actually know how to use hooks correctly and find them frustrating as a result. It depends on what you’re used to, but I find that class based components leave too much room for scattered logic. Let’s

A scene in the second most recent episode of Ted Lasso, when a character uses Siri on their iPhone triggered Siri on my HomePod Mini in the same room. Siri attempted to follow the instructions spoken by the character but failed miserably. I

Better yet, using the Shortcuts app for iOS, create a shortcut that opens a URL with `prefs:root=PASSWORDS` in Safari. For macOS, you can make the same shortcut open `/Library/Apple/System/Library/CoreServices/

An elliptical CSS `clip-path` containing a slightly too large spinning beach ball might also suffice. It’d at least stop the edge wobble.

Are there no laws about minimum notice or severance pay? I’m glad Australia has decent laws to protect workers. It’ll be interesting to see if Australian Twitter staff who are locked out of their accounts have been laid off and what happens

What’s the alternative though? Many of the items are unwieldy. For the items that can be carried with you around the store, you pick them up off the shelf and take them to the checkout.

Has anyone had any luck with any of the biography services available? I remember hearing about Story Terrace, but am not sure on the quality or thoroughness, especially considering the price point. It does sound like a nice idea though.
