dosdudes Tool is for running macOS on Apple Hardware That is unsupported (e.g. too old). Still not that hard, check out /r/hackintosh. And be prepared to swap your WiFi card, intel cards are unsupported, so are nvidia graphics.

The problem isn't using one consistently, in self-written code, but students will copypaste small snippets from somewhere . While python recommends using spaces for everything, more than enough code exists that uses tabs. Now; not e

Unpopular Opinion: IDEs suck when teaching people programming. A simple Text editor, the simpler the better, is all we need, combined with a compiler. Modern IDEs introduce a boatload of completely irrelevant concepts and complexity that

So basically you now run your app in ring0, with none of the security mitigations the community developed in the past ten years, and force everybody to code in c/c++. Is it just me or does that sound like a disaster waiting to happen?

If you play live music as a hobby, you're not exactly getting that. I've made bad decisions in the past; namely playing in an orchestra next to the drums without hearing protection. I can't undo that, and while it wasn't

As someone with a rather annoying tinnitus, silence freaks the shit out of me. To stay productive, I need music. What kind of music I listen to really depends on my mood. It could be dubstep (Excision, Teminite, PsoGnar, to name a few out o

That implies that students don‘t stop listening as soon as anyone mentions command line. Those who desperately need a debugger to learn are the first ones to not use it because of no GUI.

At work I just made a huge organization overhaul. Previously, the entire state of a project was scattered throughout some markdown files in an absurdly complex git repository, a gitlab wiki and a stash of hand-written notes. It's now a

In the case of office365, they enforce it via Microsoft. In other cases, the hosting provider. Avoiding US based companies hosting anything at scale is surprisingly difficult. I have had good expierience with Hetzner (germany-based), but al

No, these are apples and oranges. GDPR regulates what obligations a site collecting data of european users has (for example, acquiring consent). This imposed regulations on a direct, contractual relationship (whether the contract is implic

I‘d like to know the source of your numbers. For reasons I buy Ultrasonic gel quite regularly, and it costs me about 1€ per litre, delivered to my doorstep. If you use it for its intended purpose, I highly doubt that you use more than 0.10€

Switzerland is not part of the EU, so different rules apply. As far as I know, a EU health insurance would have covered you (retroactively; as in: pay $800 and send the invoice + proof of payment to your insurance and you'd get reimbur

You obviously have never thought about the use of PoE. You just cannot compare PoE and USB-C Power delivery as these are made for entirely different applications. I'd rather buy a WiFi router that gets its power over the ethernet cable

No, it cannot. They are mandated to have a designed breaking point. If you’re trapped, accelerate and break the barrier. Little damage to the car, relatively little damage to the barrier, everyone’s still alive.

The real question is: is it compiled with the same msvc compiler that ships in the SDK? If so, they don’t even use C99. C89 all the way. That especially means no variable declaration anywhere in the function body.

I did a similar mod to the UEFI of my x230t. Don‘t be too excited, it boils down to about 5 jumps that have to be replaced with NOPs. Took me a screwdriver, a bus pirate for dumping and flashing, and about half an hour start to finish.
