Interesting. Do you tend to crop portraits you take at 28mm?

I should have replied to your comment, instead of posting a new one. I agree with your sense of freeing, but if, as the author talks about, you'll crop many of your shots, it doesn't sound so freeing then.

I'd struggle with the idea of shooting at such a wide angle, and relying on cropping later. Theoretically, at least, I like the idea of letting a fixed focal length in the camera guide how I frame images around me.

http://www.sachachua.com is the blog of an avid Emacs user who promotes its use, and the plus is that there's a lot more interesting information there too as she documents her journey.

That's a great question on the page by EGreg: > I wonder if GitHub itself can use its own issues system for prioritizing feature requests and bugs :-)

Seneca and Epictetus, two Roman Stoics, have stood the test of time. They're not "the" recommended books, they just might be of interest to you.

They do quite a good job at picking out the "best tweets" aleady for sending weekly summary emails. So having that selection of tweets in the UI is a good idea, I think.

Jacques, what's your impression of where he puts his wealth (stock exchange). I'm in Ireland, and ETF index fund gains are taxed at ~40% each seven years, outside of your retirement fund. It seems like other avenues are more viabl

After the responsive web design movement, I wonder if people will move back to designing for desktop+phablet, forgetting about the tablet forms.

I agree with not agreeing with his debt-based asset-building approach. But you can still follow the same path in a tech way, such as selling your own product online. As you work on it, if it's producing income, that can begin to be an

Interesting, I learned from it from a non-misfortune stance. E.g.: Work your job, but move towards income from a business. (Not that I've gotten very far yet ;) )

Indeed, that's the point of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Its framework of the four quadrants that define where your money is coming from stuck with me.

Thank you. You're right that I'd need a developer in any case to first customise the theme, but then also to add customisations over time. It's still holding us back, though, having a PHP app that a developer needs to edit, i

I've hit a roadblock from the other side of things: I have a PHP/Smarty app including a marketing site that would love some new content. But I don't want to go editing stylesheets etc for web site updates. To make the process

I know PHP-bashing is oldschool, and I love what I've been able to do with PHP. After a decade of me in PHP, his love for Ruby is a lovely selling point for trying out that language.

Agreed, and of course some people make use of this. I have for a long time worked online to sell products (and also have a day job). My wife talks about liking the idea of selling something online, but can never find a calling.

Would you bother with CDN delivery for Wordpress at 50 requests per second? It would speed up delivery for users, but I suspect it passes my level off "too complex for current situation".

After editing a zap in Firefox, and I click on the save button at the bottom of the page, something nothing happens. It's like it only gets focus with my first click. So I have to click a second time for the save button to go and save

If I create a zap in a folder, I'd normally expect to be brought back to that folder, not to see the home screen again where folders are listed. I want to be able to visually see my new zap listed.

Thanks. It is on a $10 Linode. But currently uses Amazon Cloudfront to server most assets, which is overkill. It costs like $0.50, but it's the extra engineering complexity that I'd like to avoid. I agree with you.

As a complete tangeant, I find that Zapier's UI is what holds back my usage of it. They added folders which is fantastic. But editing a Zap is slow in the UI. I can't open a Zap into a new tab by Ctrl+Clicking the Zap title. Lots

By caching, you mean like script execution caching that PHP accelerators give? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PHP_accelerators Am I right in thinking that such caching comes built-in with PHP 5.5+ ?

I've configured my web application to deploy to S3/Cloudfront for asset deployment. It's a PHP app. In the end, I might just pay a little more for a faster server. Keep things simple, everthing on the one app. It's a &qu
